You've made it to your
final year at PCC!

With great writing should come great design, especially for your portfolio. I'm an award-winning cover designer and PCC professional writing grad with a MA in graphic design, and I'd love to give back by helping you with your student portfolio.

examples and prices

I've been professionally designing PCC students' portfolio projects since 2019.
Below are the covers I've worked on over the years.

As a PCC alumni, I love giving back to the school and its students.
That's why my student discounts are a whopping 77% off my usual price. See the cost breakdown below.

What's The Process?

  • To get started, you'll fill out the form at the bottom of this page and share ideas for what you’d like to see on the cover. Once complete, I’ll send you a contract that you'll sign and return, as well as a brief formatting guide (if I'm typesetting your interiors).

  • I’ll send several rounds of cover drafts while you edit your pieces.

  • (If I'm doing your typesetting) You’ll send me your fully-edited writing by following simple format guidelines.

  • (If I'm doing your typesetting) I’ll send an interior design sample that you can request changes to or approve, and then later a full proof. You’ll be able to request small changes or correct typos.

  • I’ll finalize the cover with the final spine width, then send you final files with uploading instructions to your specified printer.

If the design check has already passed, skip this field.
This is the date you plan to upload your final project to your printer, not the date the bound copy is due for your class.
What work are you hiring me for?
What kind of cover do you need?
Note that each additional format comes with a $50 fee.
Ex: Blurb, LuLu, Amazon, etc.
Note that this needs to be finalized before I can begin designing. If you're unsure of what size you want, I recommend measuring books from the library and then checking if your printer offers those dimensions (not all printers offer all sizes).
This measurement helps calculate the spine width—If I’m doing your interior design, you can skip this.
What type of paper will your book's interiors be printed on?
Creme is common for fiction. Standard Color is a cost-effective colored version. Premium Color is more expensive and used for projects with a high number of images (like photo or picture books).
Ex: Endorsements, awards, verses, hooks, etc.
This does not have to be final, but it helps me if I have something to work with. If you don't intend to have back cover copy, write "NA."
If I'm doing your interiors and you want your author bio only on the inside, note it here. If you do not want a bio at all, leave this area blank.
Do you want an author photo included on the back cover?
Include any author photo you have in your. ZIP files and name it “NAME-Author Photo.JPG”
Ex: Endorsements, publisher information, calls to action, etc.
The designer will credit her name on the back cover and would kindly request the author also place credit on the copyright page of the book.
If I'm doing your interiors, I'll place it in the copyright myself. 🙂
Take as much space as needed to explain the contents of your book. The more I can understand the theme purpose of your book, the better I can make a design to match. Some students consider a specific story to be an “album cover” for their portfolio and want it to be depicted on the cover. If that’s the case, feel free to give me an overview of the story’s plot.
If applicable, give a brief description of any character you may want to appear on the cover (including yourself if you’re having me illustrate your cover). This can include physical features and character traits that may help me if one or several characters appear in the design. (Pinterest board links are welcome for reference.)
If your book centers on an important symbol, image, item, or theme that could appear in the design, list them here. (Pinterest board links are welcome for reference.)
Do you have any ideas of your own you’d like to see tried in the design?
Provide links to specific covers of other books you like the design of. (Or provide a link to a Pinterest board). I recommend providing at least five covers. If you need inspiration, you can Google either Bookfly Design or Kirk DouPonce, check out some of my other covers in my portfolio, or take a trip to the Books A Million down the street.
List any other information you'd like me to know.

Note that this form is not a contract.
